Mastering the Quick Outside Offense

An interactive drill for setters and outside hitters to sync fast-tempo plays.

Offense Simulation

Phase 1: Understand Playable Locations

All locations along the net are playable. The drill starts with a setter self-toss to a fixed target at net zone 1, with the OH taking a 2-step approach.

Focus: Synching the hitter's last step with the ball being in the setter's hands.

Phase 2: Full Approach with Freeball

Work on a 4-step approach and timing. Recognize patterns where the setter can still make a quick 'GO' set. The drill begins with a toss from H2 to the setter.

Focus: The OH takes a 4-step approach, facing the setter on the last two steps, nearly parallel to the net.

Phase 3: Live Ball Decision Making

Similar to Phase 2, but starting from a passer's platform. This forces communication and decision-making in a game-like scenario.

Focus: When to call for a "HUT" (fastest tempo), a "GO" (one tempo slower), or a regular 4-tempo offense. The drill progresses from free balls to downballs and finally to live serves.

No animation for this phase. Apply the concepts in a live practice setting.
