This butterfly formation of serve receiving is good for a warm up activities. Progression can be a time-based for intensity or count of successful passes for quality (max 20 per min).
It's a great drill as a warmup especially when there are more than 16 players. The blueprint will show you the flow of the drills. When lost during the drill, remember to follow the ball direction. Two lines on each court side, 1st line is to enter the receiving and 2nd line is to introduce a live ball into the court. Pick any player or use P1 player to follow its flow through the demo run. When the drill goes well, there should always be two-live balls at any given time. Shuffling: Keep those feet moving! Shoulder squares help you stay balanced and ready to react. Height: Aim for a high ball (10 feet or higher) - this makes it challenging but helps you learn to control the ball better. Counting: This is all about maximizing your efficiency! Catching the ball anywhere +1 point; Catching with one step +2 points; Catching with no steps +3 points; This will motivate you to keep improving your reaction time and footwork.
