Purpose

Our intent is to promote physical fitness, well being, self confidence, and to help student-athletes discover other potential life skills through volleyball and exercising. The culture is to keep it fun and safe while learning to compete in a sport-like environment.

Practice Locations

Practices are held in local school gyms in various Fairfax County Schools located near the capital beltway, such as Westlawn Elementary School, Graham Road Community Build, and Jackson Middle School.

Program(s)

With limited time and resources, we have organized our programs into two pillars that cover both life skills and motor skills: 1) USAV-sanctioned youth/junior volleyball team and 2) Self-learning volleyball skills.

The USAV-sanctioned youth/junior volleyball team has limited availability based on tryouts for each season. Team practices and tournament commitments are required, and each team has a dedicated USAV-certified coach. Tournaments are scheduled on weekends between January and May. This program provides lots of team sports experience and covers some aspects of offensive tactic and strategies, as well as rotational/perimeter defense.

Self-Learning Volleyball Skills Program is for middle and high school students, as well as club team members who want to improve their skills. This program provides framework and guidance to help students work on specific volleyball skills and work your way up to play at collegiate level. The science of motor learning is a process that involves repetitive practice and results in a change of motor skills. Understanding what it takes to acquire a desired skill and having feedback to promote behavior changes in specific skills can help optimize motor skill learning. Your individual volleyball skills are essential tools for your team, so continue to improve them no matter what level you are at self-training hub.

  • The self-paced learning program is free and provides access to online resources, including a virtual coach tool.
  • The asynchronous developmental program is a hybrid of self-paced practice at home and scheduled sessions at the gym, including an assessment session and five sessions where athletes can submit video footage for verification and guidance.
  • The skills bootcamp in-person program is six weeks long and is subject to gym space and coach availability.
